Myosa Appliances

Myosa Appliances are soft, removable pre-orthodontic devices designed to correct the underlying muscle habits and breathing patterns that cause crooked teeth and poor jaw development. Worn for one to two hours during the day and overnight, they gently guide the teeth, jaws, and airways toward healthier alignment — without the need for braces in many cases.

How Myosa Appliances Work

Myosa Appliances are made from medical-grade silicone and come in a series of graduated sizes to match your child's stage of dental development. Each appliance works by combining light arch-expansion forces with built-in tongue tags and lip bumpers that train the muscles surrounding the teeth. As your child wears the appliance consistently, their oral posture, breathing, and bite gradually improve — addressing the root cause of misalignment rather than just its appearance.

  • Soft, medical-grade silicone — comfortable for day and night wear.
  • Trains lip, cheek, and tongue muscles to adopt correct resting posture.
  • Expands narrow arches to create space for incoming permanent teeth.
  • Promotes nasal breathing and reduces mouth breathing habits.

Which Children Are Suitable for Myosa Appliances?

Myosa Appliances are most effective when started during the mixed dentition phase — typically between ages 5 and 12 — while the jaws are still actively growing. Children who display any of the following signs are ideal candidates for an early assessment.

  • Crowded, spaced, or protruding front teeth beginning to appear.
  • Habitual mouth breathing, snoring, or restless sleep.
  • Tongue thrusting, thumb sucking, or prolonged dummy or bottle use.
  • Narrow upper arch, developing crossbite, or open bite.

What the Myosa Treatment Journey Looks Like

We begin with a comprehensive assessment of your child's jaw growth, tooth eruption, breathing patterns, and oral muscle function. If Myosa is appropriate, your child will be fitted with their first appliance and shown a set of simple myofunctional exercises to practise alongside wearing it.

As your child progresses through each appliance stage, we schedule regular review visits to monitor arch development, confirm correct wear time, and advance to the next size when ready. Most children wear their Myosa Appliance for one to two hours each afternoon and throughout the night, with the full program typically spanning 12 to 24 months depending on the individual case.

Find Out If Myosa Appliances Are Right for Your Child

Early intervention with Myosa Appliances can prevent the need for more complex orthodontic treatment later. If your child shows signs of mouth breathing, crowding, or poor oral habits, a dedicated Myosa assessment will give you a clear picture of their jaw health and growth. The earlier the habits are corrected, the greater the long-term benefit for your child's smile and airway.
