Scaling & Root Planing
Scaling and root planing (SRP) is a non-surgical deep-cleaning procedure designed to treat gum disease by removing bacteria and hardened calculus from below the gum line. Often referred to as "deep cleaning," it targets the roots of the teeth to create a clean, smooth surface that allows the gums to heal and reattach properly to the tooth.

When plaque and tartar build up beneath the gums, they cause infection and inflammation (periodontitis). This leads to periodontal pockets, where the gum detaches from the tooth. SRP cleans these pockets, removing the bacteria that prevent the gums from becoming healthy again.
